New MINI Countryman Plug-In Hybrid Wired and MINI Cooper S Countryman Pure set to Excite MINI Fans

Kuala Lumpur, 15 April 2019 – MINI Malaysia has introduced the new MINI Countryman Plug-in Hybrid Wired as well as the MINI Cooper S Countryman Pure to further enhance the MINI line-up for MINI fans in Malaysia.

The MINI Countryman Plug-In Hybrid Wired and the MINI Cooper S Countryman Pure promise to deliver more thrills of athletic agility and supreme versatility to their owners. “The MINI Countryman is the ultimate all-rounder; the iconic symbol of urban living. Since its first introduction in 2010, the MINI Countryman has consistently evolved through the decade to suit the trendsetters of every generation. In 2018, Malaysia was the first country in South East Asia to locally assemble the MINI Countryman. Following its tremendous success and in line with our strategy for electromobility, we also introduced the first Plug-In Hybrid variant to further demonstrate our commitment to shaping the future of the Malaysian automotive industry.” said Mr. Harald Hoelzl, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia.

“The versatile premium Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and its electrified variant have also been a key contributor to our record-breaking performance of over 1,200 vehicles delivered last year. This is a 19% growth as compared to our performance in 2017 (1,011 vehicles). In the first quarter of 2019, meanwhile, our performance grew by 38% with over 300 vehicles delivered; more than half of which are of MINI Countryman variants,” he added.

The New MINI Countryman Plug-In Hybrid Wired

The MINI Countryman Plug-in Hybrid Wired is powered by a TwinPower Turbo petrol engine partnered with an electric motor to give it an acceleration time of 6.8 seconds from zero to 100 km/h but keeping fuel consumption to just 2.1 litres per 100 km. The powertrain is mated with a 6-speed automatic that helps transfer the 224 hp and 385 Nm to all four wheels.

In addition to the ALL4 Design, the Countryman Plug-In Hybrid comes with the Wired Package which includes sleek 19-inch Edged Spoke rims with run flat tyres. The vehicle is further accentuated by typical MINI Bonnet stripes, contrasting roof colours in black or white, and a hexagonal grille.

Inside, the car is decked out in Leather Cross Punch Carbon Black upholstery on electric seats with memory function. The interior offering is completed with MINI Yours Illuminated interior trims as well as a MINI Yours steering wheel.

New on the dashboard is a high-resolution 8.8-inch Touch Screen Display in the MINI Centre Instrument that now houses a wealth of navigation information at the driver’s fingertips. The MINI Head-Up Display also helps keep all key vehicle information remains visible to the driver at all times. Meanwhile, entertainment for all occupants in the vehicle is enjoyed through a Harman Kardon 12-speaker sound system.

The exterior colour offerings for the MINI Countryman Plug-In Hybrid Wired include Chilli Red, Light White, British Racing Green and Melting Silver; all paired with a Black roof. The Island Blue exterior colour is paired with a White roof.

The New MINI Cooper S Countryman Pure

The MINI Cooper S Countryman Pure sports a rugged design with the iconic bonnet stripes and an elegant black roof. Powered by a TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder petrol engine that generates 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque, the Countryman Pure has a top speed of 224km/h. It can do the century sprint in 7.4 seconds with the help of an 8-speed automatic transmission, while keeping average fuel consumption to 6.5 litres per 100 km.

The Cooper S Countryman Pure comes with LED headlights complemented by cornering lights and features new 18-inch Black Pin spoke rims. Inside, it is furnished with Carbon Black upholstery in the sporty Leather Cross Punch design with electric seats. The Hazy Grey interior trim meanwhile, exudes a modern flair that finely complements the beige headliner. This variant comes with a 6.5-inch Touch Screen Display with Navigation that prioritises user experience with its easy-to-operate interface.

The exterior colour choices are Chilli Red, Light White, British Racing Green, Thunder Grey, Melting Silver and Island Blue; all paired with Black roof.

Both variants are built with a whole host of features, including the new generation MINI Connected with built-in 4G SIM technology. This offers extensive connectivity and personalised services to maximise safety and convenience, offer up-to-date information and entertainment as well as allow “MINIacs” to stay connected while on the road. The features include Intelligent Emergency Call, TeleServices, MINI Online, MINI Concierge Service, the wireless Apple CarPlay, Remote Services and eDrive Services (exclusively for the MINI Countryman Plug-In Hybrid Wired).
