Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Introduces C205 C-Class Coupe Facelift; Two Variants Priced From RM347k
During the media drive to try out the just-launched W205 C-Class sedan facelift, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia introduced us to the C205 C-Class Coupe facelift. The 2-door C-Class come in two variants i.e. C200 Coupe AMG (RM346,888) and C300 Coupe AMG (RM416,888).
“The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class range is completed with the launch of the Mercedes-Benz C200 Coupe and C300 Coupe. With its refined design, superior features and athletic character, the next generation C-Class Coupe is now even more dynamic and progressive while retaining its high degree of luxury and sophistication,” said Mark Raine, Vice President Sales & Marketing Passenger Cars, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.
Like its sedan sibling, the C200 Coupe is powered by a new 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with a 48V on-board network with a belt-driven alternator (EQ Boost), that helps boost power as well as improve fuel consumption. Total engine output is 184 hp, with an additional 13 hp, and 280 Nm, with and additional 160 Nm (from EQ Boost).
Similarly, the C300 Coupe is powered by an improved 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 258 hp and 370 Nm of torque. 0 – 100 km/h acceleration times are 7.9 seconds and 6.0 seconds respectively. Both cars use the 9-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and have Dynamic Select modes. However, the C200 Coupe has Agility Control suspension, and the C300 Coupe, Sports suspension.
Both of the coupe variants are kitted in AMG Line so the difference between the C200 sedan and coupe are more apparent, if you didn’t notice the roofline and lack of doors. The AMG Line includes a diamond-pin front grille, AMG front apron with new geometry, sporty air intakes and chrome trim. The C200 Coupe wears 18″ AMG 5-spoke light alloy wheels while the C300 Coupe has 19″ AMG 5 twin-spoke light alloy wheels.
For the interior, there is also the option of choosing open-pore brown walnut or open-pore anthracite oak. The seats are dressed in ARTICO leather, as are the dashboard and door beltlines. Magma grey/black are available as new interior colours.
Like the sedans, the coupes also get the new 12.3″ digital cockpit display and 10.25″ interactive media display with updated interface. The digital instrument cluster has three display styles – Classic, Sport, Progressive, and the steering wheel has touch-sensitive controls that reads swipes work like a smartphone screen.
Interior features are largely similar with the corresponding sedan variant, except the C300 Coupe has a Thermatic climate control rather than the Thermotronic system in the C300 sedan.
Keyless entry and start is standard, with the start-stop button sporting a new turbine-look design. The vehicle key is also a new design. You have a choice of three variants i.e. balck with high-gloss chrome surround, white with chrome surround, or high-gloss white with matt chrome surround.
Safety features include reverse camera, Blind Spot Assist, Active Parking Assist, Active Brake Assist, cruise control, adaptive brake lights, Pre-Safe system, kneebag, tyre pressure monitoring system, and run-flat tyres. The C300 Coupe adds on the surround view cameras, Lane Tracking Package, Hands-Free Access and boot lid convenience closing, as well as a Burmester sound system.
