Honda Malaysia On Track To Achieve 2018 Sales Target Of 109,000
Honda Malaysia looks to be on track to achieve its 2018 sales target of 109,000 vehicles based on its recorded sales of 51,354 vehicles in the first half of the year. In June 2018, Honda Malaysia received its highest ever number of bookings (20,000 units), mainly due to the the tax holiday which will end in September, as well as the festive promotions.
The bulk of the 20,000 bookings were for the City (36%), Civic and CR-V (14% each). Due to the unexpectedly high number of bookings, Honda Malaysia has to extend the waiting period up to four months for certain models. Honda Malaysia also extends its apologies to its customers for the long wait, and its gratitude for the strong support shown.
The latest sales numbers put the Honda brand as the leader in the Non-National segment in Malaysia i.e. 17.7% of the Total Industry Volume (TIV) as at 30 June 2018. The brand holds second position overall for the first half of 2018, trailing national brand, Perodua.
The biggest contributor to Honda Malaysia’s sales performance in the first half is the City sedan, with over 15,400 units sold (30% of total sales). This represents a year-on-year increase of 7%. The next bestseller is the HR-V compact SUV which made up 16% of total sales, followed by the CR-V with 13%. Needless to say, these three models continue to be leaders in their respective segments. The other models – Jazz, BR-V, Civic and Accord are also segment leaders.
Recently, Honda Malaysia opened bookings for the HR-V facelift and this is also expected to contribute to the company’s 2018 sales performance.
