Kia Stinger In Malaysia; From RM240k
Naza Kia Malaysia has launched Kia’s fastest automobile in Malaysia. The Kia Stinger sports sedan is available in two variants – the 2.0L GT-Line, priced at RM239,888, and the 3.3L V6 GT, at RM307,888. The 2.0L Theta II T-GDi with twin-scroll turbocharger produces 251 hp and 353 Nm to get the Stinger GT-Line from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds; the 3.3L twin-turbo V6 Lambda T-GDi has 365 hp and 510 Nm and a 0 – 100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds. Both engines are paired with the second generation 8-speed transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. The transmission in the GT-Line is also Kia’s first application of a Centrifugal Pendulum Absorber torque converter which is commonly found in racing engines to help reduce torsional vibrations.
Derived from Kia’s GT concept car, the Stinger has one of the longest wheelbases in its segment – 2,905 mm; length and width are 4,830 mm and 1,870 mm respectively. The car is equipped with Electronically Controlled Suspension, Limited Slip Differential and Launch Control System.
Other features include Vehicle Dynamic Control with Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control system, Traction Control System, Hill-Start Assist Control, Anti-lock Braking System, Cornering Brake Control, Brake Fade Compensation, Blind-spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning and seven airbags.
Conveniences for the occupants include a dual zone climate control with rear air vents, cabin air filter, LED roof, foot and courtesy lamps, front and rear power outlets with USB ports, 12-way powered front seats with extension and lumbar support, 2-memory system for driver’s seat, wing mirrors and steering wheel, 8″ touchscreen audio display with Harmon Kardon 15-speaker system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and head-up display.
Exclusive to the 3.3L GT are premium Nappa leather seat trim, 16-way powered driver’s seat with extension, lumbar support and side bolsters, GT flat-bottomed steering wheel, and gauges for G-force, oil temperature, torque, turbo boost, and chrono lap timer. The GT also runs 19″ alloy wheels (the GT-Line uses 18″ wheels).
Since its debut, the Kia Stinger has recognised with numerous awards. Among them are the EyesOn Design award for Production Car Design Excellence at the 2017 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), Best of the Year & Best Sports Sedan in MotorWeek’s 2018 Drivers’ Choice Awards, Roadshow by CNET Shift Award For 2018 Vehicle Of The Year, Wards 10 Best Interiors for 2018, AutoGuide 2018 Car Of The Year, Autotrader’s 10 Best Car Interiors under $50,000 for 2018.
The Kia Stinger comes with four exterior colour choices – HiChroma Red, Deep Chroma Blue, Panthera Metal and Aurora Black. For the interior, the 3.3L GT gets a red colour package while the 2.0L GT-Line gets flush black.
