MisterTyre Taps TOC Automotive College For Interns
An internship partnership agreement was signed by MisterTyre Malaysia Sdn Bhd and TOC Automotive College (TOC) to provide TOC students with on-the-job experience and exposure. MisterTyre is a mobile app service that offers not just tyres but also rotation and alignment services as well as car batteries and engine oil service via its mobile service van.
Rather than spend your time going out to different tyre shops to scout for the best price or brand, MisterTyre offers up to 28 global and local tyre brands in its mobile app and the tyres will come to you at the convenience of your home or office. You simply select the tyres of your choice (and quantity), make payment and set a date and time to suit your schedule; appointment slots go from 8 am to 10 pm. MisterTyre has a “Best Price Guarantee” commitment and also offers a free 12-point check to ensure our car is roadworthy. The tyre replacement, alignment and other services will be performed by trained technical personnel.
And this is where TOC aids in making available trained students while also helping the students pick up practical experience and entrepreneurial skills. TOC is a pioneer in professional automotive education in Malaysia and has Autobacs Seven Co Ltd, a leading aftermarkets retailer from Japan, as one of its stakeholders.
“We are excited to work with TOC Automotive College and their students. The Internship Program allows for students to learn valuable on-the-job skills from our highly skilled technicians in the context of digital, e-commerce environment. The MisterTyre business model is a significant departure from and very disruptive to the traditional “store” model for automotive services. We are the world’s first app-only automotive aftermarket services provider offering new tyres, rotation and front wheel alignment, engine oil and batteries,” said Dennis Melka, Executive Director and Founder of MisterTyre.
“Our business model removes the middleman from the supply chain thereby allowing MisterTyre to offer incredible deals with no charge for mobile service whilst empowering consumers to make informed decisions on their automotive repair requirements,” he added.
MisterTyre started off with 1 mobile service van to cover the Klang Valley and will add another 2 vans in January 2018.
Mr Melka commented that the internship program is a win-win solution for both parties as it enables a new generation of technicians to be trained directly in a digital economy environment without exposure to the traditional auto workshop culture. They will get experience in using the latest high-end equipment as well as improving their customer engagement skills.
“Through this collaboration, students will not only be able to be placed in the industry successfully, but will also be able to extend their coursework knowledge beyond the classroom with the global digital leader in automotive service industry. This aligns with the College’s innovative vision in providing the best learning experience and to providing practical experience for students, grooming them to become world-class automotive specialists,” said Adelaine Foo, CEO of TOC Automotive College.
The internship program will start in January 2018 and outstanding trainees may be offered full-time placement at MisterTyre after the internship.
The MisterTyre app can be downloaded from Apple App Store or Google Play.
