Recall Notice For 2016 Honda HR-V In Malaysia
Petaling Jaya, 24 October 2017 – Honda Malaysia has issued a product recall for the Honda HR-V 2016 Year Model to replace the front stabiliser bar. The affected HR-V 2016 Year Model totals about 2,814 units and according to Honda Malaysia, the affected front stabiliser bar has a breakage risk when put under high stress. The breakage risk is due to insufficient temperature control during its production process resulting in compromised strength of the stabiliser bar.
Breakage of the stabiliser bar might cause the wheels to be unbalanced, resulting in instability during a drive and the car pulling to the left or right. However, according to Honda Malaysia, there have been no reported incidences of crashes or injuries related to this issue reported in the country and the company is taking a proactive and preemptive measure to ensure customer safety. Honda Malaysia sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to all affected customers and clarifies that all other Honda current models are not affected by this recall.
All affected HR-V owners will be informed via notification letters, which will include details of the product recall. If you own a HR-V and receive this letter, you are advised to send your HR-V to the nearest Honda authorised dealer for inspection and replacement.
All the affected front stabiliser bars will be replaced with newly made parts and will be at Honda Malaysia’s cost. Currently, Honda Malaysia has 50% of the replacement parts in stock nationwide, and parts availability will be at 100% in mid-November 2017.
Honda Malaysia strongly encourages all affected customers to replace the affected stabiliser bars urgently once you receive the letter as its breakage can potentially lead to tyre puncture and instability.
