Mitsubishi Triton VGT AT GL – New Variant Now Available In Malaysia
The Mitsubishi Triton VGT AT GL is the latest variant to the Triton range made available by Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia. The Triton VGT AT GL is imported from Thailand and is based on the Triton VGT AT variant and is catered to those looking for an affordable pick-up truck for daily use.
The Triton VGT AT GL is priced at RM 103,800 (on the road without insurance) and is covered by a 200,000 km / 5 years warranty; the only pick-up truck (up to 2.4L) to offer this duration. It comes with a dark chrome front grille, sidesteps and 16’ alloy wheels. This new variant is also fitted with 2-Din Audio, a 4WD selector and climate control.
The Triton VGT AT GL is powered by the latest 2.4-litre MIVEC turbodiesel engine with Variable Valve Timing technology. The Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) allows it to produce 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque. This is achieved through MIVEC’s finer control of the engine valves for improved performance; the lightweight aluminum alloy block helps keeps weight down. The engine also uses a timing chain for lower maintenance costs and a longer service lifespan. It is claimed to have minimum levels of noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) for a comfortable drive and further enhancing the Triton’s car-like refinement. The Triton’s turning radius is also claimed to be best-in-class at 5.9 meters.
Safety kit includes Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Active Stability Control, Traction Control and Hill-Start Assist (HSA) and Trailer Stability Assists (TSA), as well as the Active Stability & Traction Control (ASTC) system that assists in keeping the vehicle in control during oversteer and understeer situations, or in slippery and rugged conditions, by maintaining traction.
The strong chassis of the Triton also helps to ensure better drivability and greater durability with day-to-day usage of heavy loading (tested up to 1 tonne) on rough terrains, great for those who are looking for a workhorse.
