Honda Malaysia Airbag Recall – August 2017 Update
Here’s an update on the status of the Takata front airbag inflators replacement that Honda Malaysia has been performing since 2014. The company has announced that the overall completion ratio for both driver and passenger front airbag inflators replacement is at 70% as of August 2017 (the completion ratio for the Takata driver front airbag inflators is at 81.2%, while the Takata passenger front airbag inflators is 59.5%).
Honda Malaysia is also ensuring that there is sufficient stock of the replacements to ensure customers can replace the affected Takata front airbag inflators (stock availability for Takata driver and passenger front airbag inflators is at 100% as of August 2017).
Additionally, Mobile Hubs in selected shopping malls and PETRONAS Station Hubs will continue to provide convenient venues for customers to replace the affected Takata front airbag inflators. The Mobile Hubs in various shopping malls in Peninsular Malaysia will be available every weekend in the month of August.
Please refer to the images below for the locations and operating hours of the Mobile Hubs and PETRONAS Station Hubs.
The defective Takata front airbag inflators need replacement soonest as there is a risk of injury upon deployment of the airbags. Affected customers are strongly encouraged to make an appointment at any Honda Authorised Service Centre to avoid delays or setbacks in replacing the Takata front airbag
inflators. The replacement activities at the Mobile Hubs in selected shopping malls and PETRONAS Station Hubs however, DO NOT require advance appointment; walk-ins are welcomed at these locations.
