PICKnGO Is More Than A Taxi Booking App
There’s a new ride-booking app for Malaysian commuters to choose; PICKnGO is a taxi-booking app (currently applicable to the Greater Kuala Lumpur / Klang Valley area) that is the brainchild of 5 major taxi companies i.e. New Supercab Sdn Bhd, Uptownace (M) Sdn Bhd, Damai Kota Cab Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Pemandu dan Pemilik Teksi Bhd, and Perniagaan Lima Sejati Sdn Bhd. Pick N Go Sdn Bhd, which manages the PICKnGO app, targets to register almost 10,000 licensed taxi drivers across Greater Kuala Lumpur.
According to Valerie Chan, Executive Director of Pick N Go, said that the app is a natural progression for taxi companies in the face of a changing business landscape and technology. The 5 taxi companies also unanimously agreed that the PICKnGO app shouldn’t only benefit the drivers but customers as well.
Among the key concerns raised by passengers is the issue of safety, to which the company has added an in-app SOS button.
“Passengers can easily access each driver’s profile and follow them on the interactive map. Rest assured there is no compromise on passenger safety, as all vehicles have been inspected with insurance covered by the respective taxi companies. Moreover, PICKnGO only works with drivers who have been screened and are trained professional drivers with updated service skills,” said Valerie.
To drive under the PICKnGO banner, the taxi driver has to undergo training that covers etiquette, service, attitude, and driving, so this isn’t just an app to call a cab. This (re)training is done to ultimately increase the professionalism of the taxi industry which had been affected by the advent of the ride-hailing business.
PICKnGO has also incorporated a cashless payment service for passengers’ convenience and safety. Users can register their credit, debit or MyDebit cards in the app. All PICKnGO taxis also have an MPAY +Pro mobile point-of-sale terminal allowing passengers to pay offline with their cards. MPAY wallet users can also make payments from their e-wallets, giving passengers a variety of payment choices.
“Through our collaboration with MPAY and PICKnGO, we are keen to roll out exciting marketing programs to offer our 22 million (credit and debit) card users more exclusive offers and rewards via the PICKnGO app,” adds Perry Ong, Country Manager for MasterCard Malaysia. Other PICKnGO supporting partners include Bank Islam, which is the acquiring bank partner, MapKing, Proton Edar, My Debit, PTT Lubricants, Metretech, Sunway Velocity Mall, Naturel and Antabax.
PICKnGO taxis follow metered rates and don’t apply peak demand surcharges.
