Locally Assembled Renault Captur Launched; With Early Bird Rebate

Renault and TC Euro Cars (the local official distributor) has unveiled the locally assembled version of the popular Renault Captur crossover which incidentally also has EEV (Energy Efficient Vehicle) certification. As such, the new retail price is RM 109,000 (on the road without insurance for private registration in Pen. Malaysia). In conjunction with this introduction of the locally assembled version, the first 100 buyers will enjoy a RM 11,000 rebate on the Captur; Malaysia is the only other assembly point, besides Renault’s plant in Spain, to assemble the Captur.

The B-segment Renault Captur is powered by the turbocharged 1.2-liter TCe 120 engine which produces 120 PS and 190 Nm of torque. Power to the front wheels goes through a 6-speed EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) transmission. The official combined fuel consumption is 5.4 liters per 100 km.

The 60:40 flat-folding rear seats also slide forward on rails to increase the rear cargo volume to 455 liters (with rear seats up). The cargo space also features a double floor to separate and/or hide items, as well as a tonneau cover; the floor is reversible and has a plastic surface for easy cleaning. The fabric seats are also removable for cleaning but there’s an option to pick leather upholstery.

Standard features include keyless entry and start, 4 high-efficiency airbags (with a specific algorithm to adjust airbag deployment based on severity of impact), Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, cruise control and speed limiter, automatic headlights and rain sensors, LED daytime running lights, climate control, 7″ MediaNav touchscreen, reverse camera and rear parking distance control, and Eco mode.

All Capturs come with 2-color paint schemes – Arizona Orange / Diamond Black; Pacific Blue / Ivory; Ivory / Diamond Black; and the new Flame Red / Diamond Black. The former colors are the body, and the latter, the roof.

And like all Renault vehicles sold here, the Captur is also covered by a 5-year unlimited mileage manufacturer’s warranty. New Renault owners will also enjoy a 1 year complimentary RENCARE membership which includes breakdown and accident assistance, home assistance (referral services for plumbing, appliance repairs, and locksmith services), and concierge assistance (referral services for hotel bookings, car rental etc).

The Renault Captur will be on display at the Oval Concourse in 1 Utama Shopping Centre from 19 to 23 April 2017. If you can’t make it there, it will also be at all Renault showrooms from this weekend.
