2017 Toyota Fortuner Gets EEV Pricing
The 2017 Toyota Fortuner is now recognized as an EEV (energy efficient vehicle) and as such gets to enjoy the relevant government incentives under the NAP (National Automotive Policy). With immediate effect, UMW Toyota Motor has revised the price of the Toyota Fortuner downwards by as much as RM 16,000.
The new prices of the Toyota Fortuner are:
Toyota Fortuner 2.7 SRZ 4×4 – RM 183,800
Toyota Fortuner 2.4 VRZ 4×4 – RM 175,400
The prices quoted above are on-the-road with insurance for Peninsular Malaysia.
To meet EEV criteria, the Fortuner 2TR-FE 2.7-litre Dual VVT-i petrol engine and 2GD-FTV 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine have been tuned to achieve high fuel efficiency so that the owners can travel for a longer distances with the 80-litre fuel tank. These engines are paired to a 6-speed electronically-managed automatic transmission to optimize fuel efficiency. Engine outputs are 166 PS @ 5,200 rpm; 245 Nm @ 4,000 rpm for the 2.7-litre petrol engine and 150 PS @ 3,400 rpm; 400 Nm from 1,600 – 2,000 rpm for the turbodiesel which is equipped with variable nozzle turbocharging.
“We are grateful to the Malaysian Government for recognising the Toyota Fortuner as an EEV. Since the announcement of the current National Automotive Policy in January 2014, UMW Toyota Motor has strived to support the policy and assembling EEVs demonstrates our commitment. UMW Toyota Motor is working closely with Toyota Motor Corporation to identify future models which can be assembled locally and meet the EEV criteria,” said Akio Takeyama, Deputy Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor.
Mr. Ravindran Kurusamy, President of UMW Toyota Motor said, “Besides meeting criteria relating to the fuel efficiency of the model, qualifying for EEV incentives also encompasses the level of investment made, transfer of technology, localisation of components, and economic contribution to the nation. As a result of the incentive, the savings gained have been passed on to customers. As such, the EEV incentive has helped to reduce the retail price of the model.”
“The Toyota Fortuner is the first 4×4 SUV to qualify as an EEV, besides being the most affordable 4×4 SUV in its class. It is also the 4 th Toyota model assembled in Malaysia which has EEV status besides the Toyota Camry, Vios, and the recently-launched Innova,” he added,
