The Volvo V40 Gets New Drive-E Engine
The Volvo V40 T5 Drive-E, a mouthful as it may be, means it’s equipped with Volvo’s award-winning Drive-E powertrain that known for its good blend of performance, lower emissions and fuel consumption. Retailing at RM 192,888 on-the-road without insurance, the V40 T5 with the 2-litre turbocharged Drive-E and 8-speed Aisin automatic gearbox has power output of 245 hp and 350 Nm of torque. Claimed 0 – 100 km/h time is 6.3 seconds and top speed is 240 km/h. Numbers-wise, this is great value.
The V40 T5 Drive-E is an improvement over its predecessor, with better fuel consumption at 6.1 l/100 km (fuel efficiency at 16.4 km/l) and lower emissions at 143 g/km, despite producing 32 hp and 50 Nm more power.
“Our main goal during the development of the Drive-E powertrains was to deliver efficient driving pleasure – powerful engines that consumes less fuel and emits lower emissions,” said Lennart Stegland, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia.
Stegland added that the V40 T5 already offers the best-in-class active safety features such as, City Safety, Blind Spot Information System, Cross Traffic Alert and Park Assist Pilot and that the addition of a new powertrain will only serve to strengthen Volvo’s market offer. As this is an engine update rather than an outright facelift, there’s no Thor’s Hammer running lights just yet.
There are five exterior colors to pick: Ice White, Ember Black, Raw Copper, Bright Silver and Osmium Grey, and is now available for orders or viewing at all authorized Volvo dealers nationwide.
The Volvo V40 T5 Drive-E comes with a 5-year warranty and 5 years of Volvo-on-Call Roadside Assist.
