2016 Ford Focus Launched In Malaysia, From RM 118,888 OTR
The stylish Ford Focus has been given an update and is now available in Malaysia. Three variants are on offer – the 5-door Trend at RM 118,888 (on-the-road without insurance), 4-door Titanium+ and 5-door Sport+ at RM 139,888.
But this is more than a mid-cycle facelift. The previous 2L Ti-VCT engine has been replaced by a 1.5L turbocharged EcoBoost engine with 180 PS and 240 Nm of torque, the most powerful in its class. The engine is paired with a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission (which replaces the 6-speed dual clutch) with steering mounted paddle shifters.

Physically, the Ford Focus comes with sound-insulating windshield and thicker side window glass for a quieter cabin as well as a lower, wider stance for a more muscular stance. Inside, the Focus has Ford’s SYNC 2 connectivity system with an 8″ color touchscreen that allows you to control your phone, entertainment and climate control with simple voice commands.
New too, is the Enhanced Active Park Assist which now features Perpendicular Park Assist in addition to Parallel Park Assist. This system will park and unpark for you; all you need to do is work the throttle, brake and gears. Working in tandem with this system is Cross Traffic Alert which detects approaching vehicles from either side.
Next up are the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) and Active City Stop which helps mitigate low-speed collisions at speeds up to 50 km/h. Additionally, Ford MyKey allows the owner to program the spare key to reduce the maximum speed of the vehicle, give earlier low-fuel warning, limit the entertainment system volume or even disable it completely if the seatbelt isn’t fastened. Sounds like a great key for parents to hand over to their teenage child, doesn’t it?
Other safety features include front, side and curtain airbags, cruise control with speed limiter, Hill Launch Assist and perimeter alarm. Bear in mind that these features are available only in the Titanium+ and Sport+ variants.
