Petronas 2016 CNY Commercial And Coffee Break Campaign
As part of its much anticipated festive campaign, national oil company, PETRONAS today showed off its fresh TV commercial for Chinese New Year titled ‘Rubber Boy’.
‘Rubber Boy’ tells the story of young Ah Hock who learned the values of sacrifice, gratitude and acceptance growing up in a rubber plantation, witnessing his mother’s devotion in providing for the family.
PETRONAS Senior General Manager of Group Strategic Communications, Zahariah Abdul Rahman said, “PETRONAS is proud to be able to bring this warm, enduring story that resonates in the hearts of all Malaysians. We intend to send out a strong message to count your blessings and reminding everyone about the significance of being Malaysian and appreciating our common values.”
“Malaysians are uniquely known for our common values of togetherness amongst different generations, forgiveness for family and friends, and prudence in conducting personal lives. For the past two decades, PETRONAS’ festive communications have always urged Malaysians to remain rooted in these values and the inclusiveness of all races”, she added.

At the event, PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB) also launched its flagship road safety programme – the PETRONAS Coffee Break. This year, 880,000 cups of freshly brewed coffee will be offered at 142 participating PETRONAS stations nationwide on 6 – 7 February and 13 – 14 February 2016.
PDB Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Ibrahimnuddin Mohd Yunus said, “Our commitment for the festive safety campaign remains steadfast. We are expanding the participating PETRONAS stations from 40 stations last year to 142 stations.
PDB also collaborated with PETRONAS Lubricants Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Proton Holdings Berhad to provide safety checks for vehicles at selected PETRONAS LubeXperts outlets and PETRONAS stations nationwide to ensure vehicles are in tip-top condition.” Customers will also receive a 20 percent discount on brake fluids when they service their vehicles at selected PETRONAS LubeXperts outlets on weekends until 7 February 2016.
Further, PETRONAS also contributed RM 20,000 worth of fuel to St. John’s Ambulance of Malaysia (SJAM) which would be providing emergency response services along the major highways this festive season. SJAM earlier held basic first aid demonstrations at selected PETRONAS stations as part of its awareness campaign.
