Audi TTS joins TT range in Malaysia
The first Audi S model to be officially sold in Malaysia is here and it arrives in the form of the Audi TTS, a new addition to the third-generation Audi TT range that debuted locally barely half a year back. Priced over RM100k on top of the regular TT 2.0 TFSI, the TTS offers uprated outputs plus enhanced handling thanks to its quattro all-wheel drive system.
Effectively a Volkswagen Golf R under the sheets, the TT is powered by a heavily reworked version of the 2.0-litre EA888 mill used by the regular model, the TTS is quoted with outputs of 286hp and 380Nm for the Malaysian market, slightly down from the European tune which gets 310hp and 380Nm.
Technical enhancements incorporated into the engine include reinforced aluminium pistons, connecting rods, bearings and crankcases. It runs a turbocharger tuned to offer maximum boost of 1.2 bar, with the capacity to ram, literally, as much as a tonne of air into the intakes in one hour.
Standard transmission is a 6-speed S tronic dual clutch which, together with the standard all-wheel drive system, enables the TTS to hit 100kph from rest in 4.7 seconds, shaving 1.2 seconds off the regular TT’s time. Top speed is electronically governed at 250kph, and fuel consumption is rated at 6.9 l/100km in the combined cycle. (CO2: 159 g/km).
The all-independent suspension architecture incorporates adaptive dampers, which feature five-mode adjustment via the Audi drive select system that also governs engine, transmission, and steering power assist mappings.
Visually distinguishing itself from the regular model, the TTS sports its unique aluminium-design radiator grille, front and rear bumper with diffuser, aerodynamic side sills, aluminium-look side mirrors, and quad oval tailpipes.
Inside, TTS-specific interior features also include electrically adjustable S sport front seats, sports multi-function leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, matt brushed aluminium inlays, “S” badge scuff plates, and a honeycomb-like laser texture on the dashboard. In-car entertainment setup boasts a Bang & Olufsen sound system with DVD drive, 14-channel amplifier and 12-loudspeakers giving a total output of 680 watts.
The new Audi TTS is offered in eleven colour choices: Glacier White, Scuba Blue, Tango Red, Floret Silver, Monsoon Grey, Nano Grey, Brilliant Black, Mythos Black and Daytona Grey with pearl effect, along with TTS-exclusive colours, Vegas Yellow and Sepang Blue with pearl effect.
Available from today at all authorised Audi dealerships nationwide, the Audi TTS is priced from RM 389,900, with optional Matrix LEDs and rear-view camera available for RM5,000 and RM2,500 respectively.
