ASEAN NCAP ratings – Perodua confirms compliance

by -

Follow a statement released by ASEAN NCAP this week pertaining to a locally-made car that was tested by the organization and awarded a star rating and subsequently quietly implementing a deviation in specification to later batches of cars, Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua (Perodua) has immediately clarified that all its cars comply to the vehicle specifications as rated in crash tests.

Through an official statement issued by the company, its President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh, says that, “Perodua wishes to assure our customers that all our vehicles adhered to safety requirements and conform to the safety ratings awarded by Asean NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme).

“Perodua does not compromise on the safety and the wellbeing of our customers and their loved ones.

“Members of the public are welcomed to come to our sales showrooms and speak with our authorised sales advisors to know and understand more about our products’ safety features,” he concluded.

All three models of Perodua’s current range of vehicles have been tested and rated four stars by ASEAN NCAP. The lack of electronic stability control precludes the possibility that any of its models could have achieved the maximum five-star rating. The Alza is was tested without the child seat top tether which the guilty car has been accused of omitting.
