The ongoing recall of vehicles fitted with potentially defective Takata airbags widens its net even further to include 12,444 units of Nissan vehicles sold in Malaysia by Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) and manufactured between 2002 and 2007.

In an official statement issued by ETCM, it was stated that the company “together with Tan Chong Express Auto Service Centre (TCEAS), have undertaken a service campaign to notify its customers and replace an airbag inflator module for the front passenger airbag of affected Nissan vehicles.”

Vehicles involved in the campaign are as follows:
– X-Trail T30, manufactured from 1 May 2002 to Mar 2007 – 12,420 units
Teana J31, manufactured from Aug 2004 to Sep 2004 – 4 units
– Liberty, manufactured 2003 – 20 units.

In 2013, four fully-imported units of the T30 X-Trail in Malaysia were recalled for the same front passenger airbag inflator fault.

Owners of Nissan vehicles affected by the campaign will be contacted by TCEAS. Alternatively, customers can reach out to the company via its customer service toll-free hotline at 1-800-88-3838 or visit www.nissan.com.my. All relevant costs of the service will be borne by ETCM and TCEAS.
