Jaguar F-Type Project 7 – Two units for Malaysia
Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that two out of 250 of the limited edition Jaguar F-Type Project 7 supercar have been allocated for the Malaysian market. The first performance vehicle developed by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Operations team, the F-Type Project 7 has a limited production run of just 250 units worldwide, and pricing is upon application.
Benefiting from JLR’s renowned expertise in aluminium construction, the Project 7 tips the scales with a kerb weight of just 1,585kg, light enough to enable the 567hp and 680Nm generated by its 5.0-litre supercharged V8 to propel the car to a century sprint of 3.9 seconds and an electronically-limited V-max of 300kph. An 8-speed automatic transmission sends drive astern, with an electronic active differential (EAD) serving to mediate delivery of that power to the wheels.
Matching its stellar performance are accordingly heavy duty anchors as well as uprated chassis and carbon fibre aerodynamic components. Carbon ceramic disc brakes serve to provide consisted fade-free braking under continuous abuse whilst torque vectoring (operating in concert with EAD) serve to enhance directional stability.
Appearance of the vehicle stays true an earlier-shown Project 7 concept car and pays tribute to Jaguar’s motorsports history of seven overall wins at Le Mans. Key design elements are inspired by the old D-Type racer, a vehicle that accounts for three of the brand’s seven Le Mans victories. Downforce is enhanced by aerodynamic components such as a carbon fibre front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, and adjustable rear spoiler.
“Special Operations exists to develop a suite of products and services that enable our most discerning and enthusiastic customers to indulge their passion for our cars. F-TYPE Project 7 is a perfect example of one such product. It’s the most powerful production Jaguar ever built, and pays homage to Jaguar’s seven outright Le Mans victories with distinctive design cues inspired by the Jaguar D-type,” said John Edwards, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations.
