Petron completes rebranding of 550 former Esso and Mobil stations

This year marks the third anniversary of Philippine-based oil & gas outfit Petron’s entry into the Malaysia market taking over from ExxonMobil’s network of fuel stations. Since then, the company has been gradually transforming what was formerly Esso and Mobil stations to incorporating Petron’s branding, an exercise that was completed fairly recently.

As part of the rebranding exercise, all 550 of the Esso- and Mobil-turned-Petron stations sport not only new and upgraded facilities, but also aim to distinguish themselves from the competition by offering a higher level of service. Head of Retail Pn Faridah Ali describes it as, “the care and personal touch that our customers experience whenever they go to our stations.”

Besides absorbing ExxonMobil’s old network, Petron has also set about building new stations to expand its reach, having completed 10 stations in 2014 and a further 20 in various stages of construction.

Services to expect when a customer drives into a Petron station include the cleaning of windshields and application of a complimentary layer of tyre shine. The company has also partnered local coffee makers to serve fresh brews at the stations. In the event of an emergency, your nearby Petron station can be a save haven as they are all checkpoints of the Government’s ‘United Against Crime’ project.

From April until December 2015, participating Petron stations will be giving customers a surprise treat every week under the new Fuel Happy campaign launched today. Treats will vary all the time, but there will be some sort of freebie to be given away.

Speaking to reporters at the Fuel Happy campaign launch at Genting Highlands, Pn Faridah Ali also confirmed that Petron is on track to meet the Government deadline in having all its stations nationwide ready to offer Euro 4 RON 97 petrol to consumers by September. The transition will likely occur in phases, meaning some stations will even be making the switch earlier.
