Porsche Cayman GT4 gearing for Geneva debut
Porsche is set to add a GT variant for the Cayman family with the all-new Cayman GT4 ready to make its global debut at the upcoming Geneva International Motor Show. Armed with components trickled down from the 911 family, the hard-hitting Cayman GT4 is claimed to lap the famous North Loop of the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 40 seconds – the same time managed by vehicles such as the Lamborghini Murcielago, Mercedes SLR and SLS, as well as the Ford GT.
Powering the Cayman GT4 is a midship-mounted 3.8-litre flat-six engine borrowed from the 911 Carrera S. In this application, power is slightly de-tuned from 400 to 385hp, but with a lighter body to push and paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, the Cayman GT4 is still good for a top speed of 293kph and the century dash in 4.4 seconds. Official fuel consumption rated under the NEDC is 10.3 l/100km.
The Cayman GT4’s uprated chassis – which sits 30mm closer to ground than a regular Cayman and also anchored by more generously-sized brakes – features many components from the 911 GT3. Users can further upgrade their vehicles to include enhancements such as PCCB ceramic brakes, custom Sport Chrono Package, and a Club Sport Package.
