King Long Kingo van launched in Malaysia
China Auto Manufacturers (M) Sdn Bhd (CAM), distributor of commercial vehicles from Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co Ltd, has launched the Chinese maker’s King Long Kingo passenger van.
Two engine variants are on offer, namely a 2.7-litre petrol and 3.0-litre diesel, with the latter variant set to receive the focus of CAM for the Malaysian market, priced at RM115,229 on-the-road with insurance for private registration in the Peninsula.
The DK5 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine with direct injection displaces 2,982cc with combustion chambers derived from a 96mm bore and 103mm stroke. If these measurements sound familiar, it’s because they are identical to Toyota’s 1KD-FTV engine that we see in the Hilux. It goes a long way to explain the Kingo’s uncanny resemblance with the Hiace van. Outputs, for the record, are 144hp and 370Nm.
Equipment fitted to the window van include 15″ alloy wheels, projector headlamps, LED tail lights, two rear roof lamps, nine rear air-con vents, ABS, EBD, anti-glare rear view mirror, and reverse sensor. As a limited introductory offer, CAM will be giving away RM2,000 worth of fuel vouchers and a choice between luxury seats and RM3,000 cash rebate for bookings collected by 16 Feb 2015.
In after sales, the Kingo is protected by a 3-year / 100,000km warranty inclusive of free towing services. CAM serves its customers through a network of 50 appointed service dealers throughout Malaysia with 24/7 breakdown service support.
