BMW 320i now with Sport Edition trim
BMW Group Malaysia has bolstered its range of the F30 3 Series with yet another variant, an uprated version of the 320i dubbed the 320i Sport Edition. A RM17,000 upgrade from the regular 320i, the Sport Edition carries over trim elements from the 320i in its Sport Line guise whilst adding a few enhancements.
Available in Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Melbourne Red, Glacier Silver, Imperial Blue, and Mineral Grey colours, the Sport Edition’s exterior retains the high-gloss black finishes on its kidney grille, air inlets, and tailpipe trim as found in the 320i Sport Line, but with rims enlarged by an inch to 18.
Inside, the familiar black interior with red contrasts signature of the Sport Line trim remain present, and in this case, lined with Dakota leather either in black with red highlights and coral with black highlights. Infotainment system has been upgraded too, with satellite navigation added on to the ConnectedDrive package along with an uprated HiFi system consisting of a 205 Watt amplifier, vehicle-specific equalizing, and nine loudspeakers.
Beneath its sheet metal, the 320i Sport Edition is identical to familiar versions of the 320i, being powered by the 2.0-litre N20 twin-scroll turbo engine pushing out 184hp and 270Nm. Mated with ZF’s 8HP 8-speed automatic transmission, the 320i has the ability to complete the 0-100kph sprint in just 7.6 seconds whilst averaging an impressive 6.0 l/100km on the combined cycle. Like all modern BMWs, the 320i comes with an extensive suite of EfficientDynamics technologies such as auto start/stop, brake energy regeneration, and Eco Pro driving mode.
On-the-road price of the new 320i Sport Edition without insurance but inclusive of the 3-year / 60,000km BMW Service + Repair Inclusive package is RM258,800. In its regular form, the 320i is priced, under the same terms, at RM241,800, a RM3,000 increase from its launch price of RM238,800 in 2012.
