Renault Megane RS 265 facelift arrives in Malaysia
A new look Renault Megane RS is in town, sporting a revised fascia that brings its appearance in line with the new Renault family look as seen in the Clio RS in by a further stretch the Fluence sedan and similarly facelifted Koleos SUV.
Besides being laced with distinctive bright red finishing as part of its Red Pack trim, much of the Megane RS’ sheet metal aft of its A-pillars are largely untouched. Up front, however, sees the fitment of entirely new light clusters and a more pronounced grille with the Renault emblem given an enlarged and more prominent appearance. The signature F1 blade front lip remains, applied with red finishing with daytime running lights adorning its edges.
Equipment-wise the new Megane RS comes fitted with the familiar RS Monitor, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, dual-zone auto climate control, multi-mode drive select, 18″ alloys, and RS fabric sports seats.
Mechanical elements of the vehicle are unaltered, so we have the familiar 2.0-litre F4R turbo engine continuing to provide 265hp worth of thrust to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. Of note, however is the switch of its chassis set up from the harder Cup to the more pliant Sport configuration.
We anticipate the softer chassis would improve the Megane RS’ on-road manners, with an inevitable trade-off of its on-track sharpness. Usage of the softer chassis setting is also a likely reason of a sharp dive in price. Compared to RM235,000 previously, the new Megane RS 265 Sport is now priced a lot more affordably at RM199,999 on-the-road without insurance.
