BMW F30 3 Series gets M Sport treatment
The BMW 3 Series range in Malaysia is now bolstered with the addition of two new M Sport variants bringing the total number of variants of the current F30 generation to eight. Priced at a premium of RM20,000 over the regular equivalents, the 320d M Sport and 328i M Sport comes with the usual aerodynamic and suspension enhancements typically associated with this line of models.
There are no enhancements made to the respective powertrains, both turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder mills paired with BMW’s highly-acclaimed 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF. The 320d‘s N47 oil burner makes 184hp and 380Nm, whilst the petrol-powered 328i enjoys a highly-potent 245hp and 350Nm.
Both models are enhanced with upgraded M Sport suspension and lowered ride height of 10mm. The 320d gets stiffer spring rates, whilst the 328i gets electronically-controlled Adaptive M Sport suspension which is able to spontaneously adjust damper parameters of each individual wheel based on continuously measured wheel sensor data.
Outside, the new 3 Series M Sport sports a redesigned aerodynamics package complemented by wider kidney grille bars finished in black high-gloss. Eighteen-inch M Star-spoke alloys adorn the four corners and the window line surrounds are finished in exclusive BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line trims. At the rear, exhaust tips are chrome finished and buyers also have the option of an M Sport exclusive Estoril Blue metallic colour.
Lining the interior is a special palette of materials that include Dakota leather on the front sports seats, Aluminium Hexagon dashboard trim contrasted by Estoril Blue matte accent lines, and a special BMW Individual Anthracite headliner. Soft Nappa leather grips the 3-spoke multifunction M leather steering wheel’s thicker rim, which also features paddle shifters and a more pronounced thumb rest.
