Winners of Ford’s Join the All-New Fiesta Movement were treated to an experience of a lifetime at the Linkin Park concert at Bukit Jalil yesterday. The new Fiesta ‘agents in training’ Adora Chloe George, Ng Lay Wee, Chai Jin Chern, Jacob Hii, and Mohd Afiq Ashraf were given backstage access to the band yesterday, and they will be among the first Malaysians to take home the new Fiesta for a test drive after its official launch.

The Join the All-New Fiesta Movement has received over 200 submissions thus far and grew the number of Ford Fiesta Facebook fans by over 68% since the campaign kicked off on 8 July. A special Ford Fiesta VIP tent was setup at the stadium compound to host the contest winners and Ford’s invited guests. At the tent, teaser brochures of the new Fiesta were being distributed, adding to the growing hints on what to expect when the car is launched.

It is widely known that the new Fiesta will facilitate the debut of Ford’s award-winning 1.0-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost engine in this region. The two-time International Engine of the Year winner is slated to replace the 1.6-litre Ti-VCT engine, but its introduction will come at a later stage. Instead, Ford will launch the new Fiesta with only a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT engine producing 110hp and 140Nm that will replace the 1.4 as the range’s base model.

It is uncertain how many trim grades will eventually be introduced. What’s made known at the moment is that there will be sedan and hatchback bodystyles with Getrag’s 6-speed dual clutch transmission as standard fit. Equipment mentioned include Ford SYNC with Bluetooth and Voice Command, leather seats, keyless entry, push button start, auto wipers, auto headlamps with follow-home lights, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, and reverse sensors. EcoMode and smart regenerative charging help reduce fuel consumption.

For safety, there will be ABS, EBD, stability control, traction control, an unspecified number of airbags (presumably seven as per the current model), and a PATS immobiliser. The ownership experience is covered by a 5-year / 200,000km warranty and 3-year / 60,000km free service package.
