The order books for the all-new 2013 Toyota Vios are officially open, with UMW Toyota Motor having just announced estimated prices for an unchanged five-variant line-up for the upcoming version of its best-selling B-segment model. Sporting a modernized design and upgraded specifications, the new Vios will be assembled locally at Shah Alam in UMW Toyota’s ASSB plant.

As before, Toyota offers the Vios with a selection of four trim levels, with the base J spec available with a choice of manual or automatic transmission. The higher E, G, and TRD Sportivo grades are available exclusively in automatic guise. Prices range between an estimated RM73,200 for the 1.5J manual and RM93,200 for the TRD Sportivo model. In between, the 1.5J automatic, 1.5E, and 1.5G are priced at RM77,300, RM82,900 and RM88,500 respectively.

Preliminary information made available on UMW Toyota Motor’s official website indicate an October launch date, and that the Vios will continue to operate the tried and tested 1.5-litre 1NZ-FE four-cylinder engine with VVT-i supplying 107hp and 141Nm to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Suspension layout features MacPherson struts up front and a torsion beam at the back. Rear disc brakes are available only with the G and TRD Sportivo models.

Listed safety equipment are uniform across the board, with all variants getting ABS, EBD, dual frontal airbags, 3-point rear centre seat belt and ISOFIX mounts as standard. Other items in the spec sheet, depending on variant, include rear fog lamps, projector headlamps, 60:40 split folding rear seats, headlamp level adjust, rear fog lamps, steering-mounted controls, keyless entry, and start stop button. Reverse camera is bundled into the multimedia touchscreen optional packages.
