Ford Focus retains global supremacy
Ford has claimed that its analysis of global vehicle registration data obtained from Polk indicates that the Focus continues to be the world’s best-selling vehicle nameplate as of the first quarter of 2013.
Based on most recent figures available, some 288,724 units of the Focus were registered worldwide between 1 January and 31 March 2013. Demand in China grew 153% year-on-year, with 104,065 vehicles sold during that period. Brazil is another market that recorded encouraging figures, sales growing 18% to 7,227 vehicles.
Global production of the Focus has been ramped up to meet growing demand, with Ford’s plant in Pacheco, Argentina, becoming the latest to roll the car out. Ford also builds the Focus in the United States, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Russia, and Germany, providing the capacity to make a combined total of 1.5 million Focuses at a rate of two cars per minute.
Let’s see if Toyota will have anything to say about this latest claim.
