Naza Bikes venture into Cambodia
Naza World has announced the opening of a new Naza Bikes 3S centre in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, spearheading the company’s entry into the motorcycle-dominated IndoChina region. Expected to open by August 2013, the 7,000 sq ft facility was built at a cost of RM1.5 million wholly funded by Naza’s own coffers.
Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, Joint Group Executive Chairman of NAZA Group of Companies said, “Naza Bikes began planning its venture into Cambodia two years ago. We chose Cambodia as the starting point for the brand’s international growth based on extensive research of its market, culture and the opportunities that the country presents for our business sustainability and future expansion.”
The showroom will offer Naza Bikes’ complete range of motorcycle models consisting of the NZ 125R, Naza Blade 250 and Naza Blade 650. Malaysian personnel will be heading the showroom’s management team, whilst Cambodian locals will be hired to fill sales and operation positions. Looking forward, the company plans to capture 10% of the Cambodian market share with annual sales of 30,000 units within the next three years.
“Cambodia’s market continues to thrive and the country currently has an estimated 1.8 million registered vehicles – some 300,000 are cars and the rest are predominantly motorcycles and trucks. An increase of 8 percent from 2011 to 2012 is a clear indication that the time is ripe for NAZA Bikes to invest in Cambodia,” Datuk Wira SM Faisal continued.
“We hope to eventually assemble our own products in Cambodia and to help with our sales, we are looking at appointing 10 to 20 dealers in 2014,” he added.
Next in the horizon, Naza Bikes plans to further extend its reach throughout the ASEAN region over the next two years – including operations in Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar and Laos.
