Perodua sponsors local motorsports hero
When we talk about motorsports, Perodua is not exactly the first brand that comes to mind, but this has not stopped the company from giving recognition to one of the country’s brightest up-and-coming motorsport talents. It was announced yesterday that rising MotoGP star Zulfahmi Khairuddin has been appointed as official ambassador of the Perodua Myvi for a period of two years.
Born and raised in Banting, Selangor, Zulfahmi first attracted attention in the racing scene by finishing in the top 20 of the Shell Advance Malaysia MotoGP 2009 in the 125cc category. Zulfahmi’s entry in the MotoGP World Championships marks him as the first ever Malaysian to compete on the world stage in the 125GP class (2010-2011) and Moto3 Class (2012).
“We chose Zulfahmi as Perodua’s Myvi ambassador because we believe that he is a disciplined, driven and focused – a good role model for today’s youths,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said.
In his two-year tenure as the Myvi’s ambassador, which will expire in December 2014, Zulfahmi will be obliged to During the 2-year period (ending December 2014), Zulfahmi will include credit mention for Perodua in related media activities or appearances; he will also appear in selected Perodua promotional activities during the time frame. In addition, Perodua will also have the right to associate the young rising star in the company’s media or publicity campaigns.
“It is indeed a great honour for me to be chosen to be the ambassador for the iconic Perodua Myvi as it is the most popular model in the country and on my part, I will try to make Perodua proud,” Zulfahmi said.
