3,000 bookings received for all-new Honda CR-V
Forget the Mazda CX-5, or the Ford Kuga, or any of the Korean alternatives, the real deal in the mid-sized crossover SUV market segment is still the Honda CR-V. Some 3,000 Malaysians have put their money where their mouths are and have signed cheques for Honda Malaysia to place their booking on the all-new CR-V that was launched a little over a month ago.
This is the highest number of monthly bookings ever achieved by any generation of the CR-V and with these numbers, Honda have already accounted for 43% of the 7,000 CR-Vs it plans to sell this year, and for the month of March alone, the CR-V accounted for 34% of Honda’s total sales in Malaysia. Sales are similarly through the roof in Thailand, with 18,674 orders received since its market introduction in September 2012.
Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Yoichiro Ueno said, “I am pleased with the good market acceptance from our customers. Sales for the 4th Generation CR-V has exceeded our expectations. We will be reviewing our production plan and conducting a feasibility study to reduce the waiting period for the all-new CR-V. I would like to convey my gratitude to our customers for their continuous support and confidence in our products and services.”
The CR-V is currently available only with a 2.0-litre AWD variant priced at RM148,800 with insurance. Bookings are also opened for a more powerful 2.4-litre model scheduled for introduction in June at an estimated price of around RM190,000. Honda expects the 2.4 to eventually account for 10% of total CR-V sales.
