A new Ford 3S (Sales, Service, Spare Parts) dealership has just opened in Sibu. The new dealership is operated by Sibu Ngu Brothers Motor Service Sdn Bhd, who also runs another Ford dealership in Bintulu. Combined, Sibu Ngu’s two dealerships was responsible for 40% of Ford’s sales in Sarawak. In 2011, the company enjoyed a 74% increase in sales from the previous year.

There are in total four Ford dealerships currently operating in Sarawak, and Sibu Ngu’s new outlet along Jalan Salim is a relocation of an earlier premises based in Jalan Lanang. The new facility has a showroom that displays up to four vehicles, a well-equipped lounge with free Wi-Fi and other amenities that ensure comfort and satisfaction for customers. The adjacent service centre, which is open six days a week, has three service bays and houses the latest Ford diagnostic tools and technicians trained by Ford.

“We see a bright future for Ford in Malaysia as we continue to enhance customer service offerings and roll out a series of all-new, smart, fuel-efficient products,” said David Westerman, regional manager, Asia Pacific, Ford Export & Growth Operations. “Sibu plays a key role in this future as an important market with an ever-increasing demand for 4×4 trucks – a segment that Ford excels in, especially with the all-new Ranger.”

Westerman continued, “We are pleased that Sibu Ngu has decided to invest further in Ford with this expansion. It is a demonstration of our shared vision and the success the dealership has achieved in this market.”

Sibu Ngu’s new facility rides on a strong momentum of resurgent Ford sales in Malaysia. In 2011, Ford sales in the country was its best since 1997. Retail sales soared 145% from the previous year driven primarily by the Ford Fiesta, which has sold a total of 8,000 units since its launch in 2010.

In the last couple of years, Ford’s aggressive product drive has seen the all-new Focus and Ranger follow in the launch of the Fiesta. From now to 2014, Malaysians can expect another four new or facelifted models to reach our shores. In there, will be eight powertrains completely new to the Malaysian market, including the company’s latest EcoBoost and diesel engines.
