Third-generation Mazda6 to make world debut in Moscow

Mazda has announced that the third generation model of its popular mid-sized sedan, the Mazda6, will debut in this year’s Moscow Motor Show on 29 Aug.

The new 6 arrives just five years into the model cycle of the existing model and its styling was previewed by Takeri concept car displayed at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show. Mazda debuted the current generation 6 in 2008, and the original was introduced in 2002, as a replacement for the old 626.

Following from the newly-launched CX-5, the all-new Mazda6 wears the new Kodo (Soul of Motion) design language and incorporates a full range of SkyActiv technologies that will underpin Mazda’s upcoming generation of models. A notable milestone for the model is that it will feature the first application of Mazda’s brake energy regeneration system, dubbed i-ELOOP.

The display car(s) at Moscow will naturally follow Russian market specifications, and Mazda has announced that it will feature the 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G engine mated to the 6-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic transmission.
