Kawasaki D-Tracker 150 launched in Malaysia
Kawasaki Motors Malaysia has launched the new Kawasaki D-Tracker 150 dual sport bike. Priced at RM9,689, the new motorcycle is developed from the KLX150S off-road bike with certain characteristics softened for better on-road behaviour.
It nevertheless retains the KLX150S’ basic framework, which boasts a high tensile steel perimeter frame to cater for the rugged demands of off-road biking. The front wheel is held in place by a 35mm telescopic fork suspension while the rear gets a five-step adjustable Uni-Track swingarm setup.
Powering it is a 144cc air-cooled single cylinder engine making 11.5hp @ 8,000rpm and 118Nm @ 6,500rpm. The four-stroke engine features a single camshaft design and is fed by a Keihin NCV24 carburetor. Engine settings are said to be identical to the KLX150S, it is mated to a 5-speed transmission. A kick-start electric ignition system is used.
A notable change from the KLX150S to the D-Tracker is the use of smaller 14″ wheels. Such a change is not something manufacturers usually like to boast about, but Kawasaki was keen to highlight that this is made to give the D-Tracker a more user-friendly height and smoother on-road riding thanks to smoother tread patterns.
