Shell FuelSave ‘Target One Million’ campaign to cultivate frugal driving
Rising costs has given motorists round the world serious reasons to think hard about fuel efficiency. While it is true that fuel consumption is largely influenced by the vehicle’s engine setup, it is equally true that the driver has a critical role to play in order to ensure that his or her car operates at peak efficiency and consume the least fuel possible per distance traveled.
To spread the message of fuel saving, Shell Malaysia has teamed up with its counterparts from 15 countries, namely Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Norway, Poland, Greece, Netherlands, Philippines, Singapore, Slovakia, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and Turkey to educate a combined total of one million motorists on fuel saving techniques and benefits.
“Shell has a proud heritage of more than 100 years’ of experience in helping drivers get the most out of every drop. We constantly find new and interactive ways to educate motorists on fuel efficiency and this global campaign aims to show motorists how choosing the right fuel and paring with a few simple changes to their driving habits can help them save fuel,” said Tuan Haji Azman Ismail, Managing Director of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd.
Using a series of six online mini-games, Shell aims to spread the message that the right choice of fuel allied with a few simple changes to driving habits can help save fuel and ultimately lower running costs. Each of the six mini-games elaborates on a specific Shell FuelSave tip, and the first of them is the Shell FuelSave Challenge – registration open online for all motorists.
“Young people today learn and interact most online. We aim to capture the attention of youth today through our online global campaign as Shell is committed to continuously educate motorists to save fuel in every way possible,” said Fahrin Ahmad, Shell FuelSave Ambassador.
The Shell FuelSave ‘Target One Million’ campaign is part of a long line of ongoing efforts in which Shell Malaysia has engaged in its efforts to promote fuel saving among motorists. Previous initiatives included the crowning of Europe and Asia’s Smartest FuelSavers in 2010 and achieving the Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Fuel Efficiency Lesson’ during the Global Shell FuelSave Day on 15 October 2011 at One Utama, Petaling Jaya.
