Proton extends free rear belt installation to 31 Jan
Proton has announced an extension of its free rear centre lap belt installation service from 31 Dec 2011 by a month to 31 Jan 2012. The service is offered to 225,930 units of the Proton Gen.2 and Saga LMST manufactured from 2004 to 2008 that came without these belts.
The campaign has been active since the rear seat belt ruling was announced by the Government in June 2008, and based on Proton’s latest release, only 17% of the affected vehicles have returned for the installation. This is despite massive outreach programmes, consisting of road shows and other on-ground activities nationwide, to create awareness. Mobile teams have also been dispatched to boost the programme’s reach even further.
“While the number of vehiclesthat we had managed to reach in the past few months had improved, especiallyafter utilizing the Mobile Teams, the overall response is still very poor, which was why we decided to extend the offer so that more owners can send theircars in for the installation,” said Proton Holdings BerhadGroup Managing Director Dato’ Sri Haji Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir.
With this extension, Proton car ownerswho have yet to get the rear centre lap belt installed can make an appointmentat their nearest authorized Proton Service Centres to have it done. Installation will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes per vehicle.
