With the floods in Ayutthaya showing no signs of relenting, various industries in Thailand are faced with lengthy shutdowns. Toyota and Honda has suspended operations, and so has Mitsubishi Motors Thailand (MMTh), whose plant in Laem Chabang Industrial Estates produces the Pajero Sport and Triton.

As a result, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has released a statement announcing that deliveries of the Pajero Sport and selected variants of the Triton will be halted for the time being. MMM is monitoring the situation closely, and will continuously update its customers on the latest developments.

“We apologize for the delay on vehicle deliveries especially the Triton and Pajero Sport. Our commitment to our customers remains our top priority and we are monitoring closely on the situation in Thailand” said Mr. Tetsuya Oda, Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia.

MMM will continue to deliver variants of the Triton for which they are adequately stocked, and models imported from Japan, namely the ASX, Lancer, Grandis, and Pajero Exceed are unaffected.

On a separate note, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has donated relief funds in an amount equivalent to 30 million yen (approximately RM1,000,000) to support the victims and areas affected by the floods. Back home, MMM will donate RM 20.00 for every car registered from Nov to Dec 2011 in for the same cause.
