VGM releases specced up Volkswagen Polo 1.2 TSI
Those of you who pay attention to adverts would probably have seen a few ads of the Polo 1.2 TSI by Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM). You would probably notice, then, that the units of the Polo you see on the road don’t exactly match the official Euro-spec models pictured in VGM’s ads.
It has been said by some that for its price, the Polo is neither the biggest nor the most generously equipped vehicle around. That the Polo happens to boast one of the most advanced engine and transmission combos in the market has failed to enter the consideration of many.
While nothing can be done about its size, VGM has responded to market feedback by introducing an uprated version of the Polo 1.2 TSI packed with more equipment and looking a lot more like the car you see in the adverts. There is a price increase (OTR without Insurance) from RM109,593 to RM114,593, but the Polo now sports bigger 17″ rims and front fog lights – just as advertised.
Now called the Polo Sport, the list of added equipment continues inside, with a centre front armrest, RCD 310 audio system with CD player, USB connectivity, and MEDIA-IN mobile interface are amongst new cabin amenities. Driver’s aids come in the form of ESP (Electronic Stabilization Program), EDTC (Engine Drag Torque Control), PDC (Park Distance Control) and EDL (Electronic Differential Lock).
No changes have been made to the running gear, so we continue with the 1.2-litre turbocharged engine sending 105hp and 175Nm to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG. This new Sport trim level is now the sole offering of the Polo 1.2 TSI in Malaysia. Colour choices available to the customer are Candy White, Flash Red, Sea Blue, Hot Orange, Pepper Grey, Reflex Silver, Shadow Blue and Deep Black.
