Ford Mondeo EcoBoost with 6-speed manual for Europe
Ford has announced that versions of the Mondeo equipped with the 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine will be offered with the option of 6-speed manual transmission in European markets by the end of the year.
Featuring turbocharging and direct injection, the EcoBoost 2.0-litre motor is available in two states of tune – 200hp and 237hp. Malaysia is currently getting the Mondeo only in the 200hp form, although Volvo Car Malaysia is offering the 237hp motor in T5 variants of the S60, S80, and XC60.
European-spec Mondeos get the engine in both formats, and thanks to the 6-speed stick shifter, the 237hp Titanium S variant holds the distinction of being the fastest ever production Mondeo with a century sprint time of 7.3 seconds and top speed capped at 250kph. Fuel economy and CO2 emissions are respectable figures of 7.6 l/100km and 176 g/km respectively.
In addition to the Mondeo, Ford will also be offering both versions the 2.0-litre EcoBoost with 6-speed manual transmission in the S-Max Titanium (200hp) and S-Max Titanium S (237hp) as well. Production of these new variants will commence in October at Ford’s plant in Genk, Belgium. First markets to get these offerings will be Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
