Rolls-Royce enjoying record global demand in 1st half of 2011
If anybody is thinking that the motoring industry is in a crisis, then that notion should be swiftly dispelled following Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ announcement today of a record high performance in the first half of 2011. Worldwide sales increased by 64% year-on-year, with 1,592 Rollers finding home in the first six months of the year, the company’s best first half performance since its launch in 2003 under ownership of the BMW Group.
This impressive surge in sales comes on the back of an incredible 170% sales growth in the Asia Pacific region. Other markets report strong figures too – the United States and Middle East registered 40% growth, and in Germany, sales went up by nearly 60%. Both the Phantom and Ghost models enjoy strong and sustained demand, with 80% of Ghost customers being first-time RR buyers.
Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said, “This is an excellent half-year result and demonstrates the confidence that our customers have in our company and our products. The first six months of the year have also seen Rolls-Royce celebrate our unique heritage, with the centenary of the Spirit of Ecstasy, and demonstrate our innovation, with the Phantom Experimental Electric, 102EX. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars continues to operate as the world’s foremost ultra luxury car manufacturer.”
