Peugeot RCZ launched in Malaysia

by -

Nasim Sdn Bhd, official distributor of Peugeot cars in Malaysia, has officially launched the RCZ coupe for our market. Voted the most beautiful car of the year at the 25th International Automobile Festival, the RCZ is offered to the Malaysian public in two variants, both powered by the award-winning Prince engine co-developed with BMW.

Much hoo-haa has been made about the RCZ’s attractive styling, as Nasim CEO En SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin notes, “The RCZ is a design statement from Peugeot. Its futuristic exterior, luxurious interior and powerful engine is catered for enthusiasts who enjoy driving and want to be noticed. The RCZ enters the niche premium coupe segment in the market and we are confident it will be well received.”

Enthusiasts will be pleased to know that Nasim will offer the RCZ with the option of manual transmission, and unlike usual practice, the manual version is the more powerful and better equipped model. Both versions are powered by the 1.6-litre Prince engine boosted by a twin-scroll turbo, with the six-speed automatic version getting 156hp / 240Nm setup as found in the 308 Turbo, 3008 and 5008.

The manual version is where things get more exciting, with the engine’s outputs bumped up to 200hp and 275Nm. To commensurate with its higher output, the manual version gets bigger ventilated discs for more effective stopping power. There’s also a sound system technology that accordingly alters the engine’s harmonics based on the car’s rate of acceleration. With these enhancements, Nasim is pricing the manual version (RM223,888 with insurance) higher than the automatic model (RM218,888 with insurance).

Equipment is generous as per Peugeot’s modus operandi these days, with the safety column filled by entries that read four airbags, ESP, ABS, EBD, EBA, anti-skid regulation and dynamic stability control. Creature comforts come in the form of electric-powered seats with memory (driver & passenger), Bluetooth and AUX connectivity and a JBL hi-fi system connected to six-speakers and a 240-Watt amplifier.

Extended Service Hours (27 May – 26 June 2011)

For Fridays and Saturdays, these Peugeot service centres will operate from 8:30am to 8:00pm, and from 8:30 am to 7:00pm on Sundays.

The extended hours service campaign is only for standard servicing while all customers who send their car in during this period will receive a free 20-point check-up. Some 50 Peugeot customers were present at the one-day workshop.
