Continental HD HYBRID promises suitability for multi-function role
Continental’s Truck Tyre division is convinced that its multi-function tyres, such as the newly-launched HD HYBRID, will help reshape the commercial vehicle tyre scene in the near future.
According to Continental, the HD HYBRID tyre is suitable for usage in both long-distance and regional operations, translating to lower overall operating costs in the long run. The longer mileages promised with the tyre also means reduced downtime for replacing of tyres.
“The HD HYBRID is therefore the best choice for bus fleet operators, who do not exclusively use their vehicles for either long-distance or regional assignments,” emphasizes Benoit Henry, Executive Vice President of the Business Unit Asia Pacific Truck Tires and Chief Executive Officer Continental Sime Tyre Sdn. Bhd.
Henry feels that exclusive long-distance or regional usage is on the decline. He said that, “We developed the HD HYBRID for exactly this reason. This tire is suited to both worlds,” says Henry. In partnership with the BestDrive Continental Truck Centres, this tire option is now being rolled out in Malaysia.”
Continental believes that it will be only a matter of time before the HD HYBRID supersedes the HDR2 as its best-selling drive axle tyre. Fleet operators using the HSR 2 and HDR 2 tyres can opt for an HD HYBRID tread when retreading as the tyres have identical casings.
