LEXUS MALAYSIA INTRODUCES HYBRID MODELS
Petaling Jaya, November 23, 2010 – Lexus Malaysia, a division of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn. Bhd. today introduced the LS 600h L and RX 450h.
The launch of the two models signifies the arrival of the Lexus hybrid vehicles, the only full hybrid Luxury vehicles in Malaysia.
At the media launch event, Mr. Kuah Kock Heng, President of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd mentioned, “Lexus is the first and only luxury car manufacturer to offer a comprehensive range of Hybrid vehicles. No other brand offers as much variety as Lexus.”
Globally, Lexus is offering a total of 4 Hybrid models; LS 600h L, RX 450h, GS 450h, HS 250h. The latest CT 200h will only be available in 2011.
Since its introduction in year 2005, the sales of Lexus Hybrid range of vehicles have reached over 260,000 units across the world. Since it was launched in 2007, more than 24,000 units of the Lexus Flagship model – LS 600h L has been sold, while the RX 450h which was launched in 2009 has achieved more than 70,000 units.
“Today marks a new chapter for Lexus Malaysia, as we are proud to bring the two most popular Lexus Hybrid models – the flagship LS 600h L and the Luxury SUV – RX 450h to the Malaysian market,” said Mr Kuah.
“We realize that the market for Lexus Hybrid vehicles are relatively small, but our aim is to offer to our customers the world’s most advanced hybrid vehicle and at the same time providing another choice for them,” he continued.
“Although the market may be limited right now, there is potential for future growth. We are confident that the interest and demand for Lexus Hybrid models will develop further in the coming years,” concluded Mr. Kuah.
Also present at the launch were Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, Chairman UMW Toyota Motor, Mr. Takashi Hibi, Deputy Chairman, UMW Toyota Motor, Dato’ Syed Hisham Syed Wazir, President and Group CEO, UMW Holdings Berhad, Mr. Naohisa Hatta, Assistant Chief Engineer of RX 450h, Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan, and Mr Harry Loo Chee Yan, Director of Lexus Malaysia.
Lexus Hybrid Drive is the world’s most advanced Hybrid technology that provides an impressive powerful performance. The electric motor and petrol engine work seamlessly together to produce a very responsive drive with outstanding acceleration giving a truly enjoyable driving experience.
It also has optimum fuel efficiency through the perfect fusion of an electric motor and a finely tuned petrol engine. The combination also allows the vehicle to produces at least 20 percent lower carbon emission and complies with the world’s strictest standards – including the Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle in the U.S. and the STEP 5 standards in Europe.
Lexus LS 600h L is valued at RM 998,500 while the RX 450h is priced at RM 520,200 (on-the-road price, without insurance).
These luxury hybrid models are available at the Lexus Centre in Mutiara Damansara and Lexus Penang showroom.
