Bradley looking to continue dream debut in Formula BMW
One of the many races scheduled for this weekend’s Asian Festival of Speed 2010 at the Sepang International Circuit is the Formula BMW Pacific 2010, which opened its season with two races at the same venue in conjunction with the recent Malaysian F1 GP.
Those opening two races saw Richard Bradley, 18, pick up back-to-back victories, both accomplished after starting from pole position. Racing under Eurasia Motorsport’s flag, the Singapore-based Englishman will be looking to continue his fine form this weekend.
In what quickly became a dream debut for him in the arena of single-seater racing, the youngster also re-wrote the record books by setting a new lap record for Formula BMW in Sepang.
“This is my first season racing in cars and it’s been a sensational start to the Championship. I believe I can continue this into Round 2 this weekend at Sepang and I look forward to raising the Singapore flag high again,” said Bradley.
Despite his English origins, Bradley represents Singapore in racing, as his race license was issued by the Singapore Motor Sport Association. Before uprooting to the island republic, Bradley was a multiple kart racing champion at home, having raced in Karting Formula 1 – the highest level of competitive karting.
“Richard is an extremely talented driver and has a very good foundation. We are proud to have him in the team and we are happy to be part of his success,” said Martin Quick, team principal of Eurasia Motorsport.
Going into this weekend’s action, Bradley and Eurasia Motorsport will see their lead in the championship standings tested over four races. Bradley leads the Driver’s Championship by 12 points, whilst Eurasia leads the Team Championship with 14.
