Your chance to be at the South Africa World Cup 2010
Visit a mamak stall when Arsenal plays Manchester United, and you will know how passionate Malaysians are with their football. You name it, Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, EURO, and World Cup, we swallow coverage of these tournaments wholesale.
Come 11 June 2010, the biggest one of them all gets going – the FIFA World Cup at South Africa, with South Africa and Mexico set to get the action underway at Johannesburg. That marks the start of a month-long journey which would culminate in the final match to be held at Nelson Mandela bay on 11 July 2010.
With Kia Motors Corporation being the World Cup’s official partner, local distributor Naza Kia Sdn Bhd is also getting their ball rolling in Malaysia, launching the 2010 FIFA World Cup Guide Book in collaboration with the New Straits Times in addition to launching a futsal tournament held in conjunction with the World Cup.
Dubbed “Kia Futsal with Soul”, legs of the tournament will held in Penang and Shah Alam on 22 May 2010, followed by Subang and Melaka the following weekend. The tournament finals will be held at the Bukit Jalil Stadium on 12-13 June 2010.
The grand prize on offer for this tournament is RM10,000 worth of cash. In addition, and this is likely to be the biggest draw, is that the winning team gets to represent Malaysia in the finals of the Kia Motors Corporation global futsal tournament to be held at South Africa concurrently with the World Cup.
While most of you may see this tournament as a once in a lifetime chance to be at a World Cup finals, we at Autoworld are looking at the branding of this tournament with particular interest.
