Continental Sime Tyre launches Sime Tyres 4×4 tyres
Continental Sime Tyre Sdn Bhd (CST) officially launched a new range of 4×4 tyres under the Sime Tyre brand at the Genting International Convention Centre last Saturday. The two new tyre models are the Centipede AT and Centipede HT, which serve the All-Terrain and Highway segments respectively.
Speaking at the launch, CEO of CST Mr Benoit Henry noted that the new range further demonstrates “Continental Sime Tyre’s commitment to our business partners, and with your continued support, commitment and teamwork, this will allow us to face the market challenges together.”
The all-terrain Centipede AT is developed for use on surfaces that range from tarmac to mud, sand, or stone. It features a twin-stage groove design which CST claims to provide increased traction on edges and simultaneously prevent the wedging of stones between treads, allowing it to disperse gravel with ease.
Its treads are arranged in a saw tooth pattern, which improves traction and steering response on mud and sand surfaces. Computer aided design also allowed for design optimization measures that dramatically reduce noise and maintain all-round driving comfort.
To further cater for expected rough usage, the tyres are also formed with cut and chip resistant compound, which ensures even tread wear, thereby maximizing the tyre’s life span.
Meanwhile, the Centipede HT highway-biased tyre is engineered for improved on-road performance in both wet and dry conditions. Its design is focused on providing increased cornering grip and minimizing tyre noise when cruising.
It features a triple centre rib design with multiple longitudinal and lateral grooves that is said to reduce braking distances in wet or dry conditions. It is also said to be designed for high-mileage and long service use.

Engineered in Germany, the said two tyres are currently produced at CST plant in Alor Star, Kedah. They are immediately available at all CST network dealers, and are suitable for use on SUVs, pick-ups and crossover SUVs.
