BMW Malaysia launches special edition X6 & M3 models
BMW Malaysia today announced the introduction of two new limited edition cars – the X6 xDrive35i Performance Edition and the M3 Coupe Edition. Sold worldwide in limited numbers, the company only managed to bring in 25 units of the X6-35i PE and a couple of M3 Editions.
Introducing the new cars, Geoffrey Briscoe, Managing Director, BMW Group Malaysia said, “As a major premium carmaker, it is important for us at BMW to be able to offer our customers the best in terms of product choice and availability, and these exclusive special edition vehicles introduced today demonstrates our intentions and commitment to this belief. The cars also showcase our commitment in making sure that our customers truly understand what unique and premium really is, as the best part about owning the BMW X6 xDrive35i Performance Edition and the BMW M3 Coupe Editions is the fact that they are very exceptional to the Malaysian market and only available for purchase at authorized BMW dealers nationwide.”
“These new BMW cars not only feature cosmetic upgrades to its overall look and feel, but they are also guaranteed to excite, offering more sheer driving pleasure with extra zest in performance. An example of this can be seen in the BMW X6 xDrive35i Performance Edition which not only comes equipped with additional BMW Performance parts for both its exterior and interior but is also tuned to perform even better than the standard BMW X6 xDrive35i model with noticeable increases in its power and acceleration.” said Briscoe.
BMW X6 xDrive35i Performance Edition
While we may find its name to be quite a mouthful, there is nothing mouthful about the amount of power the X6-35i PE (ed: Our short form, copyrighted!) has in store. In this iteration, the 2,979cc N54B30 twin-turbo straight-six is tuned to produce 326hp @ 5,800rpm and 450Nm @ 1,500 – 4,500rpm – the same state of tune used in the identically-engined 740i.
Outwardly, the X6-35i PE is distinguished from its run-of-the-mill brethren by touches of black throughout the body contrasted by a choice of two distinctive paintworks – Alpine White or Titanium Silver. At the corners are a quartet of Y-Spoke style 20” light alloy wheels in Black with mixed tyres as well as BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line Black exterior window surrounds.
The interior gets sports seats clad with Black Alcantara and leather combination. The dark theme continues with Aluminium Flywheel Black finish matched with BMW Individual headliner in Anthracite. Completing the package are door sill finishers and scuff plates with the M designation and stainless steel pedals.
BMW M3 Coupe Edition
If you want to get your hands on this, be fast, there are only two coming our way: one coloured in Alpine White, and the other in Monte Carlo Blue. Matched to these exclusive colours are black finishes on the bonnet vent and the special BMW M side mirrors. The usual shining bits – the kidney grille, side sills, and tailpipes – are finished ini dark eloxy-plated chrome.
Inside, panel surfaces are finished to match the car’s exterior colour. Seats are trimmed with Black Novillo Leather, with contrasting seams also matched to the exterior. The car itself is lowered by 10mm, with 19″ forged M light-alloy rims occupying all-four corners.
Both of the two units allocated for our market come with the 7-speed M-DCT transmission mated to the high-revving 414hp S65B40 4.0-litre V8. There is no chance of BMW Malaysia bringing in more units of this model as the six-month production run for this edition has lapsed.
