ContiSeal self-mends tyre punctures

Continental has recently released the new ContiSportContact3 tyres which incorporate self-sealing ContiSeal technology. The new tyres, available two sizes – 235/45 R17 and 235/40 R18 – have the magical ability to immediately close off punctures measuring up to 5mm in diameter. This, Continental claims, accounts for about 85% of all tyre failures.

The revolutionary tyre, for all intents and purposes, is identical to the regular tyres, with the exception of its weight – a necessary 1kg penalty due to the ContiSeal chemical coating.

Recently, effective 16 Dec 2009, Volkswagen have been offering the entire Passat CC range with the new CSC3 tyres as standard fitment.
