Naza applies Brabus touch for W212 E-class

by -

Buyers of the new Mercedes-Benz W212 E-class looking for a touch of added exclusivity now have additional options with the launching of the Brabus programme for the said model in Malaysia.

Top of the range is the almighty E V12, featuring the M275 V12 bi-turbo engine re-bored to displace 6.3-litres. Only ten units of this 800hp monster would be produced, and Brabus had to rein in the engine’s frightening 1,420Nm of torque to a ‘mere’ 1,100Nm so as not to shatter the Maybach-sourced 5-speed automatic transmission. Sounds exciting, but sorry people, we’re not getting it.

What we will be getting is the Brabus E-Klasse Premier Line, which consists of the E-Klasse S, the E-Klasse R, and the E-Klasse V6, all styled in reminiscence of the 370kph E V12. Whichever version you choose, you get a set of skirts, bumpers, spoilers, sprinklings of LEDs and Brabus logos, a sports exhaust, and a set of 18″ mono-block Q8.5 x 18H2 rims.

The E-Klasse S, essentially based on the as yet unlaunched E 200 CGI, features matt finished aluminium pedals, aluminium door lock pins, lighted entrance door panels, media interface, rear electric roller blinds, door blinds, intelligent lighting system with adaptive main beam assist, parking guidance, through loading facility, and Comand APS with DVD changer.

Powering the E-Klasse S is the 1,796cc turbocharged inline-4 producing 184hp @ 5,250rpm and a diesel-like 270Nm @ 1,800 – 4,600rpm. Mated with a 5-speed auto transmission sending power to the rear wheels, the S does the century sprint in 8.5 seconds before maxing out at 232kph.

Taking the role of the middle child variant is the E 250-based E-Klasse R. Powered by the same engine as the E-Klasse S, the R’s output is rated at 204hp @ 5,500rpm, and twists out 310Nm of torque from 2,000 to 4,300rpm. It similarly gets a 5-speed auto, being only slightly faster than the S, doing 0-100kph in 7.8 seconds, and having a top speed of 238kph. Additional features it has over the E-Klasse S include Keyless-Go, remote locking bootlid, gearshift paddles, and a sunroof.

Topping the range, well the range available to us anyway, is the E-Klasse V6, based on the E 300. Powering this car is a naturally aspirated 2,996cc V6 powerplant, rated to produce 231hp @ 6,000rpm and 300Nm @ 2,500 – 5,000rpm. Mated to it is Merc’s famous 7G-Tronic auto gearbox. En route to a 247kph top speed, it hits 100kph from rest in 7.4 seconds. Notable additions to this car include a pair of 7″ LCD screens for the rear passengers.

All models are available for booking effective today, but only the E-Klasse V6 is available for showroom viewing at Brabus centres nationwide. Prices start at RM448,400 (OTR without insurance) for the E-Klasse S.

Addendum (7/1/2009): Brabus is currently having a roadshow in Pavilion centre court until until 10 Jan 2010. Models on display include the latest Brabus E-Klasse W212, C-Klasse, ML B7, R B7 and CL.
