Official Press Release from Mercedes-Benz Malaysia

For eight year old Priscilla and her friends from San Pedro Shelter Home, a trip to Aquaria KLCC was exactly as they had imagined…..a journey of exploration and wonderment.

That was indeed the overall feeling as Mercedes-Benz Malaysia celebrated the festivities with over 80 children from the San Pedro Shelter Home, the Sinthamani Divine Life Ashram and the House of Joy with an excursion to the Aquaria KLCC. This event was held under their newly launched StarBuilders programme which aims to provide learning opportunities, build self confidence and encourage social interaction amongst the children.

The kids were filled with enthusiasm as they set off to explore the aquariums and exhibits filled with colourful and interesting sea life and other creatures. Adding to the thrill, they were given a treasure hunt task where they had to find the answers in the various exhibits.

Their squeals of delight and amazement could be heard all along the corridors of Aquaria especially when they reached to touch the fish in the touch pools.

“The children’s fascination with the exhibits clearly shows their eagerness to learn and discover,” said Peter Honegg, President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

An added bonus was the opportunity to watch divers feeding the fish. The kids were completely mesmerized sitting in front of a huge glass window as the divers “entertained” them.

After the tour, everyone settled in for a hearty dinner and the kids were overjoyed when the Mercedes-Benz team surprised them with back-to-school kits which included
two new sets of uniforms, a pair of new school shoes, a Mercedes-Benz school bag and a host of goodies from Aquaria.

According to Honegg, education is the key to a good future and school is the most important part of a child’s life.

“We are happy that we can contribute in some small way to making the school year ahead better by providing them basic schooling needs,” he added.

The kids were thrilled to receive their new gear for school. Loh Meng Shi aged 10, quipped, “It will be very nice to attend school in my brand new uniform and new
shoes just like everyone else.”

The treats did not stop at Aquaria as the kids had the chance to meet Santa Claus at the Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Christmas Town in One Utama.

The Christmas Town featured a week of fun and engaging MobileKids games, a safety initiative by Daimler, including special screenings of The Nimbols, a 3D animation
cartoon series.

The children from the three homes had a rousing time with all the MobileKids activities and were filled with anticipation to meet Santa.

Unknown to the children, jolly Santa was none other than Mr. Honegg who teased the kids as he went through the whole “naughty or nice” routine.

“I always wanted to meet Santa and give him my Christmas list. So, I was really happy that I finally got the chance to do that,” said six year Kevin as he jumped off Santa’s lap with a big box of goodies.

The goodies, including school supplies, toys, games, puzzles, clothes, and so forth, were provided by the Mercedes-Benz Malaysia staff.
