Car Windows Tinting, KristalBond Coating by Nippon Genius
Our country is one blessed with a very hospitable tropical climate, with constant rain and sunshine all year long. There are times, however, the strong sunshine becomes a bane more than a blessing. The high temperatures, together with the intense humidity can lead to great physical discomfort. As a result, huge investments have to be made to install powerful refrigeration & air-conditioning (RAC) systems to lower the indoor temperature and humidity.
In Malaysia, RACs are equally important both in buildings and in automobiles. For over 30 years, air conditioning have been considered as standard equipment in even the lowest specification cars sold in the country. In recent years however, users seem to have found this to be insufficient. When parked in the open, cars absorb heat from the sun, causing the cabin to warm to unbearable levels when the driver gets in. When driving on the road, sunrays shine through the windows unhindered onto the skin of the driver and passengers.
At best, it causes a sense of discomfort for people in the car as the sunrays burn their skin. At worst, prolonged exposure leads to risk of skin cancer. In addition, the high level of heat transmitted into the cabin generates extra load for the car’s air-conditioning system, which in turn taxes the engine, leading to diminished performance, and increased fuel consumption.
In recent years, many users have resorted to sticking a layer of film over the glass area of their windows. These films, better known as ‘tints’, have special optical properties and possess low transmissibilities for certain bands in the light spectrum. They ensure that only a percentage of the sun’s rays penetrate through them, usually reflecting away the infra-red and ultraviolet parts of the spectrum.
Depending on brand and price, users have the option of specifying not only the level of protection they can get, but also the apparent colour of the tint used for purely cosmetic purposes. The fact is that the car tinting business is one of the most competitive areas in the field automotive accessories as far as Malaysia is concerned. Tinting has become a must-have when purchasing a car.
However, there are certain inherent weakness in the tinting process. As it is a layer of film glued on to the glass panel, the tint or glue can degrade with time. This causes ‘bubbles’ to be formed as certain areas of the glue used lose adhesion. Also, night time visibility can be adversely affected as the now limited streams of light have three layers to penetrate – glass, glue and film.
With this in mind, Nippon Genius is proud to present KristalBond, a product of the latest and best technology from Japan as a viable and cost-effective alternative to tinting films – both for building and automobile applications. Unlike usual thin film applications, which physically attaches itself to the screen surface, KristalBond chemically bonds with the windscreen, eliminating possibilities of bubbling from ever occuring.
KristalBond’s headquarters in Shah Alam among the extensive users of this coating.
The secret behind KristalBond is the use of Sol-Gel technology, a revolutionary process in which a liquid (Sol) is transformed into a solid (Gel) at ultra low temperatures. As such, KristalBond comes in liquid form, and within a few hours of application, transforms into a microthin solid layer which bonds seamlessly with the entire glass surface – ensuring no peeling, bubbling or delamination over time.
Dubbed ‘The World’s New Ozone Layer’, KristalBond ensures the minimization of intense and scorching heat, with infrared rays slashed by 90% and ultra-violet by 99%, while visible light transmittance remains sufficiently high at 80%, thus remaining in compliance with JPJ regulations. Application of KristalBond is performed inside sealed climate and dust-controlled rooms by highly trained Application Specialists.
During its debut year in 2004, KristalBond was applied to over 1,000 vehicles in the Klang Valley alone. They have since went from strength to strength, and are looking to further growth as a unique player in a competitive industry. Compared to the competition, it offers a product featuring higher levels of safety, clarity, performance and durability.
Firstly, in the aspect of safety, the KristalBond film does not in any way alter the original specifications and properties of the glass provided by the car manufacturer – ensuring that the original strength of the glass supplied with the car remains undiminished. Also, unlike with certain tinted films, KristalBond does not interfere with the operation of infrared toll devices, such as SmartTAG.
Quality is assured, having been certified to the standards of Japan Industrial Standard, PSB (Singapore), and SIRIM. In addition, KristalBond has also received recognition from the likes of Malaysian Technology Development Corporation and the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority, having been awarded the “Grant under Technology Acquisition Fund” and “Pioneer Status in the High Technology Industry Category” respectively.
Such is the confidence that KristalBond has in their technology, each coating job is protected by a five-year warranty for the customer’s peace of mind. Depending on the size of one’s car, prices of the application of a layer of KristalBond are comparable with some of the best tints currently in the market. Customers will be paying for an entirely new and revolutionary technology with all the benefits of a conventional tint and none of the drawbacks.

Hi, Ronnie!
I came across this interesting tinting alternative known as KrystalBond and would like to inquire about it. Hope to obtain your feedback on my queries below.
During the process of tinting, will there be any uneven formation of liquid over the entire glass surface which may result in visibility issue? Will the edges of the glass surface be covered by the liquid? How about those glass surface area which is hidden within the door panel? Will the door panel be removed during the tinting process?
While applying the liquid over the glass surface, what if the liquid accidentally drops to the car dashboard or door panel areas? Will the liquid cause any damage to the car dashboard or door panel areas or any interior of the car in contact with?
I understand bubbling, peeling or delamination effect will occur after a certain period using film to tint. Will these effect also apply to KrystalBond tinting?
Thanks.

Dear Ronnie,
Good Morning! I stay in Puchong and I am interesting to do tinting for my car. Can you please quote me to tint for my whole car? My car is Proton Waja and you need to peel off my old tint film before tinting.
I have few questions to ask,
1. How long will it takes to tint the whole car?
2. As in blog, you mentioned you warranty againts bubble and peeling, I tought KristalBond is not using tint film but instead of chemical spay onto glass?
3. From internet, I search some information about car tinting and 1 question drag my attention. Some people said after tinting, some cases there will be some bubbles, it is normal and it will gone after few days under hot sun. For your opinion, this is true?
Hope to hear from you soon and waits for your quotation.
